Membership

Members of the The UPLB Genetics Society are known for the moniker, GENE or GENES.

The following are some of the basic information on the membership rules and procedure followed by the organization. Interested students are invited to approach any GENE or the Membership Committee Head of GeneSoc.

The organization conducts major and minor orientation events during the semester and the summer period. During these events, vital infiormation about the organization - its history, achievements and activities are discussed.

The UPLB Genetics Society accepts bonafide UPLB students who have any Genetics course in their curriculum.

The UPLB Genetics Society is open to students from the following courses with BIO 30 but not limited to:

• Bachelor of Science in Biology
• Bachelor of Science in Agriculture
• Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Biotechnology
• Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Chemistry
• Bachelor of Science in Math and Science Teaching
• Bachelor of Science in Forestry (Forest Biological Sciences Major)

Interested applicants must undergo an orientation and screening process conducted by the organization.

Membership in the society will be regular (resident), alumni, honorary and non-resident.

• A resident member refers to any member of the society who is registered for the semester.
• An alumnus member refers to any member of the society who has taken Biology 30 already and graduated from UPLB.
• An honorary member refers to any member of the society who is nominated and voted upon by two-thirds of all resident members.
• A non-resident member refers to any member of the society who was an active member before but gone on leave of abasence (LOA), or to study in other schools or campus, or who has finished his course without taking Biology 30.
