Genetics Camp 2011
Last January 2011, the organization conducted the 6th Genetics Camp entitled EmerGENEcy: Understanding the Genetics Behind Cancer. The camp, which was held at the Institute of Biological Sciences Building, was headed by Mr. Jonathan Emmanuel Velasquez, Cosmids. Majority of the participants of the event were from Zambales and Quezon. Some schools around NCR and Laguna also joined the activity. The lectures given by Dr. Dela Paz and Dr. Silao during the camp focused on Cancer Genetics. Dr. Dela Paz talked about cancer and the role genetics plays in it. Dr. Silao on the other hand discussed about one of the most common cancer cases in the Philippines which is breast cancer. Also, Lectures about the Introduction to Genetics and the Central Dogma were given by Prof. Cheryl Agdaca and a special symposium about folic acid campaign was given by Dr. Mendioro. Inter High School quiz contests were also conducted. This include essay writing contest and quiz contest.Gallery
