Teacher Notes

Use worksheet below for student use during the Adventure Quest. It is best to have students in a computer lab or with individual laptops (Adventure Quests work best one-on-one but can be done as partners). Students will need access to headphones for movies.

Do first 2-3 question together as a group; stress that students need to answer the questions then do all the interactive links, below questions, in order (students will just answer the questions unless this is stressed).

I have not made an answer document as many of the questions are open ended or have more than one answer. (if you develop one please share below)

Adventure Quests (AQ's)

AQ’s use the Internet to integrate primary sources, informational text, and interactive technologies into the middle school classroom. Students use technology to research topics and learn standards that include: reading, interactives, time-lines, learning games, documentaries, “hands-on” demonstrations, historical art, real world lessons, experts in their fields, and much more.

Scaffolding is built into the Quests so students can movie at their own pace.

Adventure Quests are high interest and students enjoy exploring topics and they can delve into subjects that interest them.

Teachers do not need any expertise in technology to use Adventure Quests. Quests are flexible, they can be used as direct instruction, in a computer labs or media centers, with laptops or as a teacher resource. Lesson can also be used in part or whole. Quests can be used for introduction to a topic, mid-chapter or as a re-teaching tool. There are multiple levels of learning that encompasses all learning styles and include all levels of blooms taxonomy.
