James Michael Reilly is a coach, editor, and professional actor whose work has taken him all over the US and the world. An Ivy League graduate, he has a BA in English from Cornell University, where his 3.66 GPA earned him Distinction in All Subjects. He also holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting from Indiana University. Jim’s acting career has taken him to Off-Broadway, all over the US, and to Europe and South America. He has performed in over thirty professional productions of some of the greatest works of English dramatic literature, from Shakespeare and Dickens to Noel Coward and Thornton Wilder. This has given him a deep knowledge of the most effective ways to use the English language. His coaching grew from work with colleagues, both American and foreign-born, to improve their performance on college admissions essays and graduate assignments. To date, Jim has coached a doctoral student to completion of her dissertation (her oral defense was successful, and she’s now awaiting her degree), and assisted students to gain admission to Yale, Cornell, and Northern Arizona University. He now coaches at the graduate and post-graduate levels, and is coaching another doctoral candidate on his dissertation.
