What you need:

The ability to Video Record yourself and an e-mail account

Not required, but please consider

if you are using your phone or do not have an external microphone to record yourself, you might consider acquiring this USB mic to ensure a better quality lessons

I would also recommend the Q2n Video Recorder which can serve as both a high end Webcam and/or Microphone.

I use an older version of this same recorder for my personal use.

(both of these are tools that will help aid in your development and are probably worth investing in)

Flex Pass Option: you may also purchase a flex pass which allows you to get a discount for multiple lessons, and allows to you configure your lessons in different ways:

3 hour pass = 6-30 min lessons, 4-45 min lessons, or 3-hour lessons ( or 3-30 min and 2-45 min)

5 hour pass = 10-30 min lessons or 5-hour lessons (or 4-45 min and 2-hour/4-30 min)

New Students

If you are new to my studio before your first online lesson you should print off and look over the following before the first lesson. I will ask you to perform as much of this as possible on the first lesson to help me get a sense of your level. This in turn will help me place you appropriately on my curriculum

5th & 6th Grade Students

Very Beginning and Unit 2

Middle School Students (7th and 8th Graders)

Bronze Warm Up, Unit 2, and Unit 3

High School Students

Silver Warm Up and Unit 1

How it Works:

1) Contact me at mahlerman30@gmail.com to set up a time and gather some basic information

2) At the designated time, I will contact you via Zoom for our lesson

a) must be paid in advance, before I will contact

3) Typical format of the online lesson

a) usually we will start with the student performing their assigned routine(s), with feedback given after.

b) Then students should be prepared to perform assigned exercises, etudes, solo, excerpts, etc

- Student should always have access to a metronome

c) I will give feed back and suggest ways of improvement and will demonstrate, when needed

4) Student will be given a plan for the next lesson

a) Using a shared Google Sheet, I will have a lesson template plan, that will have your assignments and resources needed. It will be updated each week (some weeks might stay the same).
