It is a good idea for anyone to have some legal documents on file to address end of life issues and your wishes if you were incapacitated and not able to make decisions on your own about medical care. Mental health advanced directive is a good thing to have on file for anyone who has mental illness who would like their wishes to be followed in the event that they are not able to make decisions for themselves during an acute episode of mental illness. The Five Wishes greatly helps family and medical professionals determine the best course of action regarding your medical care in the event that you incapacitated and unable to make decisions about your medical treatment on your own. LegalZoom - With the exception of the Five Wishes Document (see below) all documents you sign regarding end of life issues should be reviewed by an attorney to ensure that it is true, accurate, and will stand up in court. Legal Zoom, although it is not free, is a much less expensiveway to handle these legal issues. Office of Public Defense - To apply to have a public defender represent you in court you must appear in person at the Office of Public Defense between the hours of 9:00am to 11:45am or 1:00pm and 3:45. You cannot schedule an appointment people are seen on a first come first serve basis. The office is located at 3000 Rockefeller Everett, WA 98201 first floor room C103. You must bring your court papers as well as documentation of all sources of income and current assets.
