VERMONT COUNTRY STORE BEATS COMMUNITY BANK 4-3

MANCHESTER - Though only the second game of the 2018-19 women’s hockey season, Monday night’s contest between Vermont Country Store and Community Bank was a real barn burner. Couldn’t tell that these ladies had been off their skates for the past 8 months! Offense ruled the night with goals scored by VCS’s Kate Slade & Rosa Van Wie, and Community Bank’s Becca Allen and Barb Miceli. Highlights included an assist from the blue line from defensive player Barb Price who shot the puck past the opposing defense and onto Allen’s stick, Slade’s filthy clapper from just inside the blue line and newcomer Van Wie’s double goals in the 3rd period cementing her presence as a top flight player. Goalies Tiffany Clark & Erin Danaher were on fire catching pucks, blocking shots and shutting down numerous offensive plays. There’s nothing better than Monday Night Hockey @ Riley Rink!

MANCHESTER — Women’s Ice Hockey League action for Monday, Nov 26 at Riley Rink had Merchant’s Bank topping Vermont Country Store. The first period saw a lot of back and forth action until Barb Miceli got the scoring started for Merchant’s Bank late in the first period with a long breakaway goal. Topsy King added to the lead by scooting one just under the arm of goalie Tiffany Clark. Later, Amy Bryan got some help from Els Van Woert to get Vermont Country Store on the scoreboard with a post-clanging goal that angled past goalie Chrystal Cleary to end the first period 2-1.
In the final period, Merchant’s King again found the net for her second goal of the game. Barb Miceli followed with her second, assisted by Barbara Price. Merchant’s mother daughter duo Barbara and Becky Coleman combined for their team’s fifth goal, with mom Coleman taking advantage of Becky’s rebound shot from the point. Vermont Country Store’s Van Woert cruised through the crowd for the final goal of the game, finishing with Merchants Bank 5, VCS 1.

Monday, November 19th's game at Riley Rink saw the Vermont Country Store come out on top of a close game against the teal team, 3-2.
Scoring started in the middle of the first half by Vermont Country Store's Els Van Woert. Her mid-ice breakaway beat out goalie Tiffany Clark. Five minutes later, Teal's Wendy Hull evened the score 1-1 with the help of defender Barbara Price. Late in the first half Teal's Christine Miles got past goalie Chrystal Cleary for the go-ahead, making the score 2-1 for Teal.
The second half saw Amy Bryan’s quick goal in the top corner and Van Woert scored her second goal of the game with an assist by Ann Pierce for the Vermont Country Store win. Women's hockey continues on Monday nights at 7:15 pm and is open to all skill levels.
Vermont Country Store has huge win over Merchant's Bank

The first Monday night game of the 2012-2013 season of women's hockey at Riley Rink saw a 12-2 Vermont Country Store trouncing of the Merchant's Bank team. During the first three minutes of play, VCS's Christine Miles scored , followed quickly by Amy Charbonneau's twin goals. Rounding out the period, Melanie Zylinski also scored two goals for Vermont Country Store, with assists from Rebecca Allen. The second period play was more settled, with only Rebecca Allen scoring her first goal of the night for VCS.
The third period saw more action from Vermont Country Store's Amy Charbonneau, as she finished her evening's hat trick. Then VCS's Barbara Price had a searing slap shot goal from the blue line, and Rebecca Allen finish off three more goals for a total of four goals and two assists for this league newcomer. The play of the evening was a header off Vermont Country Store's Amy Bryan that then went rolling over goalie Tiffany Clark's helmet for the goal. Merchant's Bank finally tallied with a breakaway goal by Barbara Miceli, followed shortly after by one from newcomer Wendy Hull.
The women's league, run by the Rusty Blades Women's Hockey, is open to all skill levels. Action begins every Monday night at 7:15 pm at Riley Rink at Hunter Park.
