Following the migration from Google "classic" Sites in August 2020, we need to establish new ways of quickly updating this converted Google Site to reflect any change from normal operation at TRP .
On the very rare occasions TRP has an issue, Google Sites now provides us with two mechanisms. We now have an "Announcement" feature as well as the ability to add additional information to the Home page and tweak its Look and Feel.
Announcement Banner
Click on the "Settings" (Cog icon)
In the left side navigation, click "Announcement Banner"
In the "Message" box add a very brief message eg "TRP is currently down"
Change the "Show Banner" from disabled to enabled
Home Page Content & Look & Feel
The Home page comprises three sections, (1) the heading "Home", (2) the initial text explaining the purpose of the page and (3) the "Current Status" section. Only the "Current Status" section needs to be changed to reflect an outage or major issue.
Please edit the Current Status section of the Home page of this Google Site to
Change the Current Status heading from "Working Normally" to "Down" or similar
Change the font colour of the Current Status heading to Red
Add a brief description of the issue under the "Current Status" heading. Any residual text relating to a prior (unrelated) outage should be removed (but please check it has already been cloned to the "Prior Outages" page).
In the left margin, click on the paint palette icon ("Section colours") and select "Style 3". That will turn the background from white/transparent to a light red
In the right side navigation (Inset/Pages/Themes), click on the "Themes" tab and retaining the "Impression" theme, pick the red colour, which should change the underscore on the page title from green to red.
That completes the immediate changes
If the issue is long running, please add further updates to the home page. It is suggested earlier updates are not deleted, rather the latest information is added ABOVE the earlier update(s). This approach makes creating the post incident summary, for inclusion on Resolved Prior Outages, much easier.
Post Outage Updates
When the issue with TRP has been resolved, this Google Site needs updating as soon as possible to reflect "Normal Working".

Edit the Current Status section of the Home page of this Google Site to
Change the Current Status heading from "Down" to "Working Normally"
Change the font colour of the Current Status heading from Red to Black
Add a brief "situation resolved" update, but do not delete the earlier posts describing the issue.
In the right side navigation (Inset/Pages/Themes), click on the "Themes" tab and retaining the "Impression" theme, pick the green colour, which should change the underscore on the page title from red to green.
These changes should be published as soon as is practical. The "Resolved Prior Outages" page then needs updating.
Resolved Prior Outages Page Content Update
Edit the Resolved Prior Outages Pages to
Insert a new "Text box" section immediately below the page title
Add a Sub heading with the year and month of the outage just resolved eg 2012 - January
Copy from the Home page all of the text describing the most recent outage.
If there were multiple updates, please re-sequence them into chronological order
Publish the updated page. NB This action deliberately duplicates the information from the Home page; this content should NOT be removed from the Home page until the next (unrelated) incident occurs.
