After observing works of art, students were asked to write what
they saw and felt about the painting(s) of their choice.
Then students were given sections of the New York Times Newspaper to choose
a picture of their liking to write about and incorporate in a work of art (Gallery 6).

Painting 5
What I like about painting number 5 is that I see a hand. I see the words New York. This painting inspires me because to me this painting says peace, love, hope, joy and dignity. In this painting I also see a man with no arms but a hand for a leg. I like the colors in this picture because I see the colors of the American Flag. I see a bridge, a flower and alien spaceship.
James Lasser

Picasso
I like Picasso's art because it shows who I am. I have hope, I don't just care about myself. I see a finger in the picture. I think it means that it does not matter what color you are, you are you. I also see a face. To me it represents I am who I am. Picasso inspired me because I am from Africa.

3) I like painting #3 because it inspires me. It inspires me because Picasso painted what he felt like painting. What also inspires me is that on top of Picasso's painting it says Black and White. It inspires me because it reminds me about the time of slavery. Also, I love the colors Picasso painted. Also, when it says Black and White, it feels we are all a big family. This is truly painting that is inspiring.
5) I like painting #5 because it is really creative. It is talking about a famous artist called Buju Banton. This painting inspires me because it has different colors and almost looks like comic books. In one picture it looks like a shell. Also in another picture it's just mixed up colors. That truly inspires me.
