28B Cauldcleuch Head and Greatmoor Hill

Park on the minor road which follows Hermitage Water, past the impressine Hermitage Castle, at the new concrete bridge at NY477967. Follow the track bearing left at two junctions, then at its highest point just afer a gate closed by a bit of string go right throuh a gate and make for the ridge, following it to Greatmoor Fell. (This is not the route I followed which was to drop down to Braidliehope then head from the ridge from there, but from higher up the described route looks like a better bet).

From Greatmoor Hill follow the obvious track down to Swire Know and up to Cauldcleauch Head. The highest point is not obvious - it is one of those hills where other points look higher than where you are, but when you get there, where you came from looks higher. I took the meeting point of two fences as the highest point.

Return by following the track south over Muckle Land Knowe and skirt Crossbow Hill to drop down to the abandoned Braidliehope, from where the vehicle track can be followd back to the start.
