28B Ettrick Pen, Croft Head and Capel Fell

Park at the Ettrick Valley road end at NT189093 and walk past the disused farmhouse to the bothy at Over Phawhope (you could theoretically drive to this point). Follow the track E uphill, keeping stright on at the bend to head directly to large cairn on Ettrick Pen. From here follow the ridge fence SW over Hopetoun Craig and Wind Fell to drop down to the Southern Upland Way at NT170062. Follow the Way SW to the sheepfold at the base of Croft Head then ascend the ridge to the unmarked summit. Retrace your steps to NT164162 then bear left to ascend to the unmarked summit of Capel Fell. Return to the bothy in a bee-line by following the ridge NE to drop down to Graham’s Law and the forest ride.
