20A Dubh Bheinn

Starting from NR622855 the vehicle track shown on the 1:25000 map was not initially visible and the going was extremely rough with long wet flattened grass hiding 'Turks heads' up to a foot high. The Abhainn Ghlean Aoistail was in spate and we managed to cross at a deer fence at NR610868 (see photo) which was somewhat out of our way. We went over Cruach Sganadail then WNW crossing the grassy vehicle track which was visible at this point and which we rejoined NW of Lochan Barr a Bhealaich for a short distance before heading NNE to the summit of Dubh Bheinn.

We had hoped to include Beinn Bhreac to the NW and headed in this direction to Loch Ard a Chruaidh-ghlinn but as the last ferry back to Islay was 18.40 we made our way back to the car via Loch Tigh-sealga then SE and E to NR611887 where an unmapped grassy vehicle track could be seen below which we followed back to the start.
