18A Beinn a' Bhaillidh

There is a locked gate on the track to the causeway so you have to park on the A861. There is at least 3 hours when the causeway is clear, I crossed 1.5 hours before low tide and it was already well clear.

A short distance up the track on the island side pylons cross the track and there is a bit of a path following their line Westwards. The power lines go straight over a cliff which can be descended (I came back this way) but it is easier heading SW to an obvious gully at NM663736 which although steep and rocky is fairly easy to descend. There is also a small cliff further on which has a route down at NM660736. The area between here and the lake has had a battle against rhododendrons but is easy to cross to get to the track beside the lake.

Go round the S end of the lake to get to a track going to a house at NM646735 where you head WNW through well spaced mature trees to reach the forest edge at NM654736. Crossing the fence continue NW to meet another fence which is followed uphill for a bit before heading NW to the summit.

Return by the same route.
