15B Carn Chuinneag and Carn Salachaidh

We had wanted to do Carn Chuinneag with Beinn Tharsuinn to the west but a stalking party going that way caused us to go instead to Carn Salachaidh to the east.

There is a small parking area at NH464891 from where you follow the drive to Glencalvie Lodge. Contrary to the Private signs, you can follow the drive round past the lodge to the cattle grid at NH466887. You can short cut this loop by going throug the gate and following the fence line but it can be wet. There is a good stalking path from the vehicle track at NH473849 over A'Chioch to meet another path at NH471834. Head NE tending E on this and when below the 763 col leave the path to it. (We ascended earlier over rocks & grass to the 829 lower cairn at NH475833). The summit is just up from the col.

Drop down generally NNE to meet the path which goes past Loch Chuinneag to meet a vehicle track just past Allt Lochan a' Chairn. There is a new vehicle track from just NW of there to around Allt Ban, but the going direct to Carn Salachaidh is straightforwards. Return from the summit to the same vehicle track which is followed generally west to meet the outward route.
