The forest track starting at NN514206 can be followed to its end at NN502224 where a grassy track continues to a stile. Follow the forest edge NNW to the open fellside at NN499229 where there is an obvious grassy ascent route through the crags to the ridge. The route to the summit cairn is fairly straightforwards.
