The Association is a welfare and cultural organisation formed by Sri Lankan Tamils who came to Malaya from Karainagar, an island north of mainland  Sri Lanka.

In the early days, the Association assisted new Sri Lankan Tamil arrivals to Malaysia.

The primary objective of the Association shall be to promote the social and spiritual interests of it's members and the education of the people of Karainagar origin in Malaysia.
