The Duchess of South Somerville was originally inspired by the efforts of the DORIS (Demolition of Residence is Senseless) group that sought to preserve the Main Residence estate home of Doris Duke. Although the iconic house met its demise in March 2016, the history of the Duke Estate had new chapters that had to be recorded. 'The Duchess' was written in record time for it's release later the same year thanks to the encouragement and support of the DORIS group, family, friends, and overwhelming generosity of its contributors and volunteer editors. In July of 2017, just four months after the initial release, The Duchess was nominated three times for the 2018 IPPY Awards. In 2019, the book was re-released on May 5th upon the editors' requests. The updated copy is now available by online order!
