JOINT CONCERT WITH THE HEDINGHAM SINGERS - ST PAUL'S CHURCH  BRAINTREE - 28 OCTOBER 2023

COME AND SING!

Do you love singing? Well, come and join the choir for a Come And Sing day at The Institute, 15 Bocking End, Braintree, on Saturday 28 September.**

There is no charge but a collection will be held on behalf of Prostate Cancer UK.

No exceptional vocal talent or musical background is required, only your enthusiasm and willingness to participate.

You will be rehearsing a range of songs with the choir, led by new musical director Sue Edwards, who was appointed in the summer.

The event will last from 10.00am until 4.00pm, including a lunch break. Friends and family are welcome from 3.15pm to attend a concert when the new choir will perform what they have been learning during the day.

Those who enjoy the experience are welcome to join the choir, which rehearses every Wednesday at St Peter’s Church hall, Bocking.

For further details or to book a place, please email rfosker@btinternet.com or ring 07966 845533. We look forward to welcoming you on Saturday 28 September.

**Men only, of course, but the choir’s musical director is planning to start a new choir for women, called Braintree Voices.  All information about the choir can be found on https://www.facebook.com/groups/braintreevoicespublic. Anyone interested should contact her by emailing braintreevoices@outlook.com.

Why sing?

Do you want to stay healthy? You could make sure you have a walk every day – or eat good food.

Or you could take up singing.

§   · Singing has been proved to have all sorts of benefits.

§   · Singing improves your lung capacity and your overall circulation.

§   · Singing strengthens your immune system.

§   · Singing lifts your mood by releasing endorphins, the body’s natural anti-depressant.

§   · Singing improves your brain power. It pumps more oxygen to the brain, which improves mental alertness, memory and concentration.

§   · Singing widens your circle of friends.

§   · Singing has even been found to help some people stop snoring.

§   · And singing is fun.

Don't just take our word for it.  See https://www.theguardian.com/science/2023/dec/15/a-mega-mechanism-for-bonding-why-singing-together-does-us-good
