THE BIRD LEAGUE 2025
UNFORTUNATELY NO TEAMS HAVE TAKEN ADVANTAGE TO USE THIS TEAM SOCIAL MEDIA PAGE FOR COMMENTS OR PICTURES.
Teams will be made up as evenly as possible and have the number of required players able to play every game with the minimum 6 men and 4 women on the field at all times. This is why each team should have players who will show up every week. Teams will all have an average of 10 men and 5 women (15 total) or 9men and 6 women (15 Total) This is the optimum number needed to successfully field a team every week while taking into consideration the possibility of 3 or 4 men missing a game and 1 or 2 women missing a game every week yet still have every position filled to play an official game.
TEAMS HAVE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF KEEPING PLAYERS WHO DO NOT SHOW UP FOR HALF OR LESS OF THE GAMES PLAYED WHICH HAS LED TO PROBLEMS OF TEAMS HAVING TO FORFEIT BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH PLAYERS SHOW UP. SOMETIMES THE HABITUALLY ABSENT PLAYER IS HOLDING A SPOT ON THE ROSTER THAT PREVENTS A NEW PLAYER FROM JOINING THE LEAGUE, A PLAYER WHO WANTS TO PLAY AND WHO WILL SHOW UP FOR ALL THE GAMES.
Teams will re-evaluate their rosters and drop players who do not make it to at least half the games during the season. These players will be placed on probation for the season and dropped if they miss 3 or more games. The League has more and more new players and can now discard the players who do not respect the commitment to playing on a team and being there for their team mates to play as a team every week. It takes reliable people who can be counted on to be there every week to play as a team in a league that has a game schedule that is followed by all teams and every team has at least the minimum 10 players able to show up for each game.
A forfeit game is a problem for not just one team but 2 teams, thats at least 20 or more players who planned to take 2 hours out of their Sunday to play softball. Some of these people had other plans but changed it to be at the park for the good of the League. So it's not just one person or one team that has messed up but it's the other team of 10 or more players who made plans for that Sunday that were made or changed around their game time, they met their commitment to their team, they showed up ready to play. The time and effort to get everything together and drive to the park, find parking, get to the field and wait for the teams to do their line ups and then find out the other team forfeit and now you wasted a good part of your Sunday for nothing. Some people have only Sunday as their day off and they look forward to this day to play some softball. And unfortunately some teams do not have players committed to their team or the League to show up and play. Everyone in the League paid money to play softball, for some people it's a lot of money and they want their monies worth. I DON'T KNOW OF ANY OTHER LEAGUE THAT IS ONLY $40 TO PLAY FOR THE WHOLE SEASON. MOST ONE OR TWO DAY TOURNAMENTS COST MUCH MORE AND THAT'S FOR PLAYING ONE OR TWO GAMES.
SOME INNER THOUGHTS ABOUT THE LEAGUE / SINCE NO ONE READS ANY OF THIS STUFF ANYWAY.
The League started in 1978 with 6 teams and the Registration fee was $6 . The teams were made up with 8 men and 5 women with the same rule of 6 men and 4 women on the field at all times was established from the start. Some how, there were no forfeit games and every game had an average of 2 sub players. A team of 13 players could count on 12 players showing up wanting to play and teams didn't worry if they would have enough players or not. This was before cell phones, telephones were connected to the wall in your home and there was no need to call everyone on your team to find out if they are playing or not. If you signed up to play then you made the commitment to be there for every game, not just when you feel like it. People respect the game and the team , they know they have team mates that relie on each other for the game to be played. not showing up is letting your team down, and disrespectful, your team needs you and that's important. Self respect held a much higher importance in a persons self worth and how others see him. This is old school and that was history.
THE SECTION BELOW IS OPEN TO ANYONE TO USE FOR THEIR TEAM INFORMATION BUT NO ONE HAS EVER MADE USE OF IT EVER. BUT IT'S THERE TO USE.
