The ALA board has been working for the past several months with Onterra, our aquatic consultants, to develop an updated Aquatic Plant Management Plan that includes planning for continued EWM management. An updated plan is required by the DNR in advance of the grant application that the ALA will be submitting this fall to the DNR for further funding for EWM management.
This draft plan has been submitted to the DNR and GLIFWC, our tribal liaison, for their comments. The ALA is now conducting a 21 day public comment period for local stakeholders, especially property owners on Anvil Lake. Agency comments and public comments will be reviewed in terms of the potential for making any changes to the final plan.
Please take the time to review the APM Plan draft, especially the Implementation Plan found in section 5.0 from pages 39-50. The ALA’s Integrated Pest Management Strategy includes prevention, monitoring, and management through EWM hand harvesting/DASH and herbicide treatment.
Please let me know if you have any questions or comments about the draft plan by August 26th. You can send any emails to amykuhnsala@gmail.com.
Many thanks,
Amy Kuhns
ALA President
