Where did numbers come from?

Let me tell you a story:

Rivers in various places have been a favorite place to build a house and stay. Even now a lot of us enjoy visiting a riverside and dreaming if we could stay there forever!

It all started long long time ago when our ancestors decided to settle down on the banks of river Nile in Egypt. At that time there were no shops or places to buy food from, no restaurants and no hotels to go eat in. So they had to grow their own food. River is a huge body of water and keeps changing its path slowly everyday. Since every house had a different place to grow crops, they had to divide the banks of the river among themselves. So one day they decided to divide the land by drawing lines on the soil to separate their part of land from the neighbor's. But the river kept changing its path, the lines used to get erased. Due to this how much land belonged to a person was lost and they started to fight with each other. This is the problem that gave birth to numbers.

Numbers helped our ancestors measure how much land belonged to someone by counting how many steps a person needed to cover one's land. So, when the river used to erase the boundary line, our ancestors measured and marked it again using Numbers!!!

This is how the numbers came into existence.
