July 19, 2003: Bonus XP; Calendar:
I've decided to give you a couple ways to earn a small amount of bonus XP:
1) 10 XP x current level for a journal (or equivalent). Posting here, sending me email, or giving me hard copy are all acceptable. Only 1 such award per session, but I'll also give it for a brief background/bio write-up.
2) 10 XP x current level for bringing food to game, helping with dinner, etc. (whatever's appropriate for that session). Full credit for healthy snacks, less for junk food.
Lastly, some in-game calendar notes: For simplicity's sake, we'll use real-world dates. "Escort Duty" occurred June 27-July 1, return trip approx. July 4-8. Assume a week downtime before your next mission.
September 19, 2003: The Guildhouse:
A few random notes about the Adventurer's Guild, not related to the current adventure:
1) I'm going to assume PCs are staying at the Guildhouse between adventures unless you make other arrangements. Rooms are a bit on the small, spartan side, but are cheap and fairly safe (the building has good locks and some low-level guards). But as long as you stay fairly active, living there is no problem.
2) I don't want to bother with bookkeeping for upkeep between adventures, so we'll assume you're doing small jobs for the guild or around town with whatever time you don't allot to something else. (For example, if you stay at the Guildhouse, you'll draw guard duty 1-2 nights/week.)
3) Just an idea I had for an alternate to the mission briefing format: The Guildhouse in Glasport has an alarm bell in case of a threat to the building, or to the town itself. (Lanvelen has a similar set-up, but their bell can't reach the whole city.) If the bell rings, all Guild members currently in town are expected to report promptly to the Guildhouse. It's pretty loud and distinctive, and easily heard nearly anywhere in town. (Even if you're inside a thick-walled building, people will spread the word.) You're unlikely to be paid for this sort of work; it's just part of being in the Guild, esp. if you stay in the Guildhouse.
