Dr. Ajeet Kumar (PhD Supervisor) Website
Dr. Ajeet Kumar was born in Siswa Bazar, Maharajganj in 1983. He received the B. Sc degree from Deen Dayal Upadhayay Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur, India in 2002, the M. Sc degree from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Roorkee, India in 2004, and the Ph.D degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Roorkee, India in 2009. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow in Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), Korea. In July 2010 he joined the Delhi Technological University, Delhi, where he is currently working as an assistant professor. He has published more than 100 research articles in journal and conferences. Till now, Dr. Kumar has been supervised 01 Ph.D., 11 M.Tech., Thesis, and 02 R&D Projects sponsored from Government Organizations. His current research interests are novel large mode area single-mode fibers, segmented cladding fibers, fiber optic sensors, large-core fiber for solar delivery system and waveguide long period gratings. Dr. Kumar is also recipient of Young Scientist award by Uttarakhand Goverenment, India. He is member of OSA and IEEE.
Prof. Ravindra Kumar Sinha (PhD Supervisor) Website
Prof. Ravindra Kumar Sinha received his M. Sc. degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, India, in 1984, and Ph.D. degree in the area of Fiber Optics and Optical Communication Technology from the IIT, Delhi, India, in 1990. He had held various research and academic positions at Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore during 1991, Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani during 1992-1994, REC (now NIT) Hamirpur during 1994-1998 and at Delhi College of Engineering-DCE (now Delhi Technological University-DTU), University of Delhi during 1998 to till date.
He is currently a Director of CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh and Professor (on lien) of Applied Physics, DTU, Delhi, India. Chief Coordinator of the Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC)–Centre of Relevance and Excellence (CORE) in Fiber Optics and Optical Communication, DTU, Delhi since its inception in 2005. He is the author / co-author of more than 280 research publications in the leading national and international journals (120) and referred conference proceedings (160+), 04 Book chapters, 02 Books and filed 02 patent. He has supervised 15 Ph.D. Thesis and over 18 R&D Projects sponsored from Government and Private Organizations. He has served as (i) Dean (Industrial Research and Development) during 2008-2010, (ii) Head, Applied Physics Department during March 2009 to July 2012 and (iii) Chief Warden during 2003-2006 at DCE/DTU Delhi. Currently he is supervising 07 doctoral students and heading advanced R&D center offering M.Tech and Ph.D. program with visible national and international collaboration.
Prof. R. K. Sinha has been awarded the (i) Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) Biman-Behari Sen memorial award for outstanding research in the area of Telecom Grade Optical Fibers and Optoelectronic Devices Optics in 2012 (ii) Emerging Optoelectronics Technology Award [(CEOT-IETE, India)]-2006 for outstanding research work in the area of Nano-photonics, (iii) S. K. Mitra Memorial Award for in Best Research Paper in IETE Technical Review 2002 on Nanostructure Electron Waveguides and Devices and (iv) his coauthored research paper has won several Best Research Paper Awards which includes Swarna Jayanti Puraskar (Gold Medal) from the National Academy of Science in the area of Nano-scale Optical Devices for the year 2001, Reliance Technology Awards 2010, SPIE 2014 best research presentation award and OSI-2014 second best poster presentation award.
Prof. Sinha is a Fulbright Scholar – recipient of Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship to acquire firsthand knowledge of Higher Education Systems and Practices of USA covering over a dozen US universities and higher educational institution as an International Educational Administrator in 2013. He was Keynote Speaker in International Conference –NOPT in Singapore in February 2010. He has also been awarded (i) National Science Council Taiwan Fellowship-2009 to pursue collaborative research and deliver invited talk on Photonic Crystal based Nano photonic Devices (ii) Indo Swiss Bilateral Research fellowship-2009 to initiate collaborative research in the area of Nano photonic Devices with EPFL Switzerland and DTU, Delhi, India (iii) Royal Academy of Engineering (U.K) Fellowship-2008 to carry out research on Photonic Crystal Waveguides and Devices at Glasgow University, UK (iv) the Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) Invited Fellowship- 2007 to carryout research work on Multicore Photonic Crystal Fibers at Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan (v) Prof. Sinha is awarded UKIERI fellowship from British Council of India to initiate collaborative research between leading university of UK and his organization in the year 2006 (vi) He was academic visitor of Stanford University in 2002 and academic visitor of MIT, Harvard and Boston University in 2005 (vii) ICTP-Visiting Scientist fellowship-1991 at ICTP Trieste, Italy, IROST Fellowship 1992 and Visiting Scientist position at University of Campinas in Brazil in 1995 (viii) a recipient of Japanese Govt. Scholarship in 1989-1991 to work at Osaka and Kobe University in Japan.
He is a Fellow of the IETE (India), a Fellow of Optical Society of India, a member of the International Society of Optical Engineering (SPIE, USA), a member of the Optical Society of America (OSA, USA) and a member of IEEE. Professor Sinha is also Faculty Adviser of SPIE-DCE Chapter and OSA-DCE Chapter at DTU, Delhi. In addition, Professor Sinha has been actively involved in supervising several innovative projects on the design and development of unmanned and autonomous vehicles and in the establishment of Knowledge and Innovation Park with focus on student led innovation and product development.
Dr. Umesh Kumar Tiwari (Post Doctoral Mentor at CSIO) Link
Dr. Umesh Kumar Tiwari received the B. Sc. & M.Sc. (Electronics & Communication) degrees from Bhopal University, and Institute of Physics and Electronics, Bhopal India in 1997 and 1999 respectively. Dr. Tiwari received his M. Tech. degree in Opto-electronics from SGSITS, Indore, India in 2004. He has also received Ph.D degree on "Studies on Hybrid Optical Amplifiers and Gratings for Application in the 1550 nm Wavelength Window" from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India in 2014 under the supervision of Prof. K. Thyagarajan and Prof. M. R. Shenoy. Curretly, he is working as a Scientist in the Advanced Materials and Sensors Division at CSIR-Central Scientific Instruments Organisation, Chandigarh, India. Dr. Tiwari is also working as an Assistant Professor in AcSIR: Courses taught at Graduate and Ph.D. level at CSIO.
He has supervised various M.Tech. Thesis and over 05 R&D Projects sponsored from Government Organizations.
He has published more than 50 research articles in journal and conferences proceedings. His various research papers presented in conferences have been selected for the Best Presentation Awards. His current research interests includes: Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) and long period grating (LPG) based sensors, DFG/DBR structures for sensing applications, FBG for precision mechanical components, FBG based accelerometer and acoustic sensing, LPG based bio-sensing (bacteria, pesticides, bio-marker, and antigen ). Dr. Tiwari is also recipient of CSIR Young Scientist award in Physical Sciences (2012) by the Government of India. He is member of SPIE, OSA and IEEE. He is the Fellow of IETE, New Delhi, India since 2015.

Prof. Yasutake Ohishi did his Ph.D. from Tokyo Institute of Technology. Currently working as a Professor and vice president at Toyota Technological Institute, Nagoya, Japan since 2002.
Prof. Supradeepa V R (Postdoctoral Mentor at IISc, India) Website
Prof. Supradeepa did his Ph.D. Electrical and Computer Engineering, Purdue University, West Lafayette, USA in 2011. He has been a member of Technical Staff at OFS Laboratories, NJ, USA (2011-2014). Currently he is working as an Assistant Professor at Indian Institute of Science, India, 2014.
