Paul Nesam, wife of Thangasamy Nadar

Life of our dear mother

Thangasamy Nadar's wife Nesammal became a hard working housewife, though she got the certificate of teachers’ training. She used to give tuitions to the school-going children of the surrounding area and most of those children were later turned as doctors, engineers, professionals and big businessmen etc., and those people are still remembering her with gratitude. She was cultivating vegetable garden, rearing fowls, sheep, cows etc. for domestic and commercial purposes. She also supported her husband’s business by cooking and supplying food to the employees of his shops, in addition to looking after her own children with utmost care. If any of the children fell sick, she used to take them to the doctor and give them the medicines at the times specified, without sleep in the nights. She used to keep native and allopathic medicines in the home, for emergencies. Once, his last son Anbalagan met with an accident by a fall and there was intense bleeding. At that time, her husband was not at home. She immediately stopped the bleeding by a piece of cloth and then arranged with the help of shop's staff to the General Hospital of K.D.H.P. Company where the wound was got stitched.

On one occasion, she alongwith her children visited a nearby town, called 2nd Mile near Pullivasal Estate where her brother Jesudas Samuel was running a coffee factory, called Fathima Coffee Works and Parimala Stores. On the upstairs of their factory-cum-shop, the family of Jesudas Samuel lived. At that time, Parimala, the elder daughter of Jesudas Samuel, a small girl (now the wife of her son King Calvin) fell from the window of the house but Paul Nesam had the immediate presence of mind to grab her by her legs and held her tightly during the fall. The life of Parimala was saved by her. Paul Nesam was called by her friends and others by the title "46 number Amma" meaning the shop No.46 in the Munnar Town. She was also called "Victor Amma", the mother of Samuel Victor, her first son. The family of Thangasamy Nadar first lived in the quarters called "18 rooms house" which consisted 18 flats at a stretch. Later, the family moved to the quarters called "6 rooms house" which consisted of 6 houses on the top of the mountain near the Subramaniar Temple.

Our mother's close friends in Munnar were Late Mrs.Basil Kausalya, wife of Late Rev.Basil, Presbyter, CSI Munnar Church, Late Mrs.Jemimah James, wife of Late Mr.James Samuel of DMS Sons. She was associated with Late Rosamma Punnose of the Communist Party in politics. She was also a member of the Ladies Club of the K.D.H. Club. She was hard working and brisk. She maintained a vegetable garden and a flower garden before the house. She also reared cows and earned money by selling the milk after the death of her husband. She was also into a small business of paultry farming. She used to descend and climb the hill daily to go to market as the house was situated on the top of the mountain near Subramaniar Temple.

A word of testimony about our mother's spiritual life

Our mother had a vision of revival for India as she was an intercessor before God praying for revivals. She had lost her husband M.A.Thangasamy Nadar on 26th May 1961. After accepting Jesus Christ as her Savior in the early 1980s, she lived a very simple life in Munnar, Kerala State. Her only passion was her Lord. She used to preach the gospel to every person whom she came across. She was not ashamed of witnessing to others whom she met in the market or in the neighbourhood. She testified that the demons would flee on seeing her. She was an early riser, and used to sing hymns and to pray in the early morning. She completely trusted God for divine healing and hardly visited the doctors for any ailment.

She was a prayer warrior. She actively participated in many all night prayer meetings conducted by those servants of God who yearned after revivals, especially, by the All India All Night Prayer Fellowship, Madurai. Till she attained the age of 73 years, she travelled to many places like Kolkata, Goa, Delhi, etc. for participating in the all-night prayer meetings organized by the said Fellowship.

Our beloved mother, Paul Nesam Thangasamy, accepted Jesus Christ as her Saviour in the 1980s, served the Lord as an evangelist and as a prayer warrior in Munnar, Kerala State. On 11th August, 1923, our mother was born in Dohhnavur, Thirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu, a town in which lived the great missionary woman of God, Emi Carmichael and passed into glory on 24th December, 1997, a day before Christmas, in New Delhi. Her original name is Pauliar Nesam (which was changed to Paul Nesam in due course). Photo: Paul Nesam, Jebamani Samuel, Shantha (neighbour) and Leela, daughter

In 1994, while staying in the house of Job Anbalagan, she wrote a letter to Late Bro.Abraham Rajapandian, All India All Night Prayer Fellowship, Madurai, which contained a word of prophecy about the revival in India. She had penned this letter deeply regretting her inability to attend an all night prayer meeting which was held in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, because of her old age. In fact Anbalagan had forgotten to post this letter. This letter fell into his hands some days after her death. It was God's providence that he had not posted this letter. Otherwise, he would not have known the words of prophecy contained in her letter. An excerpt from her letter is reproduced below:

"I am always praying for a revival in India. My grandchildren are not allowing me to attend the all-night prayer meetings, citing my old age as the reason. However, I am praying for revival in my house. Due to the burden on my heart for revival in India, the Lord has brought me to Delhi. The people of Delhi will be saved very shortly. Due to our fervent prayers coupled with faith, the Lord has been doing great things for us".

Our beloved mother spent her last days with us in Delhi, and entered glory on 24th December, 1997 while staying in the house of his son Jeyasingh David. She was buried in the War Cemetery, Delhi. Her burial service was conducted in the Evangelical Church of India by Rev. Victor who was kind enough in arranging for burial in the War Cemetery. In this photo, Vijaykar and Vinodkhar, sons of King Calvin and Alvina Job are seen near her grave in War Cemetery.

Job Anbalagan, Alvina Job, Iwin Johnson, Benitta and Kevin visited the cemetery in December 2019 and remembered our mother.
