Robert (Bob) Trotter

Robert Trotter is the Owner and  Senior Fire Protection Consultant, at Codes-Based Solutions, LLC in Franklin, Tennessee. 

He holds a B.S. degree in Fire Science and 30 professional certifications from the International Code Council, Inc. including Certified Building Official, Certified Fire Marshal, and Master Code Professional.  

His expertise includes 22 years in the fire service with 12 years as Fire Marshal in Franklin, Tennessee where he was responsible for codes enforcement, building construction plans review, fire protection systems and fire alarm systems plans review, fire origin and cause investigation, and conducting fire prevention and life safety inspections in accordance with NFPA 101®, Life Safety Code® and the International Fire Code®.  

He has 18 years of health care regulatory compliance experience serving clients nationwide, developing life safety plans, conducting comprehensive life safety and fire protection assessments, preparation of equivalencies, and conducting codes-based training seminars.  He has several technical articles published in national trade magazines. 

Robert served as the instructor of the Building Construction and Systems for the Fire Investigator Course at the Tennessee Fire Service and Codes Enforcement Academy in 2024 and 2025.
