Tezeswi Tadepalli, MS, Ph.D (UoMS, USA), M-INAE
Dr. Tezeswi Tadepalli received his B.E. in Civil Engineering from Karnataka University, Dharwad in 2000 and his MS in Structural Mechanics and Earthquake Engineering from the University of Mississippi, USA in 2003, where he developed MATLAB-based Finite Element software for composite structures. He earned his PhD in 2009 from the University of Mississippi, focusing on the blast resistance and performance assessment of seismically designed RC frame structures. Dr. Tadepalli completed post-doctoral research at UC San Diego and the University of Mississippi during 2009 to 2012. He currently serves as an Associate Professor at NITW.
Prof. Tezeswi Tadepalli has almost two decades of experience in structural engineering and mechanics, with a focus on how materials, structures, and infrastructure systems respond to both natural and man-made hazards. His research expertise encompasses experimental characterization and analytical modeling of material responses to shock and high strain rate loading, multi-scale simulations of material failure, and multi-hazard vulnerability assessments, including impacts from blast, seismic, and wind events on critical infrastructure.
Prof. Tadepalli’s professional background includes significant roles in industry and academia. He served as a Senior Engineer at Hinman Consulting Engineers in San Francisco, where he worked on blast vulnerability assessments and hazard mitigation strategies. He also worked as a Postdoc cum Project Engineer at NEESiT, UCSD, managing multi-institutional earthquake engineering testing facilities and data. During his tenure as an Assistant Professor at the University of Mississippi, he established a Shock Tube Blast Testing Simulator and a Split Hopkinson Bar system and developed innovative computational models for defense-related sandwich composites and cementitious materials subjected to extreme loading conditions.
His scholarly contributions include 38 journal articles in high impact journals, 35 international and national peer reviewed conference papers, a book published by Springer, and three book chapters, alongside holding one US patent and two Indian patents. Prof. Tadepalli successfully guided 6 PhDs, 40 MTech, and 35 BTech students.
He has been involved as PI in prestigious projects such as MHRD IMPRINT-1, DST IMPRINT-2, DRDO-ARDB and CARS projects securing funding of Rs. 6.35 Crores till date and has consulted on various structural engineering projects, contributing over Rs. 1.1 Crores, in internal revenue generation, till date.
He established the structures and dynamics laboratory at NITW and has researched novel methods for Digital Image Correlation and colorimetry-based condition assessment as well as tomography-based characterization of materials. He collaborates with leading academics globally and has been an invited speaker at numerous prestigious events. He has organized several national and international workshops and conferences including two GIAN workshops and INCAM 2024.
Prof. Tadepalli is a Fellow of the Council for Vibration Specialists, Senior Individual Member of INAE, a Life Member of the Indian Society for Applied Mechanics (ISAM) and the Pre-Engineered Structures Society of India (PSI), and a member of the Chi Epsilon Honor Society, USA. He is also certified as an EIT (Michigan).
He has been awarded various scholarships and accolades from the University of Mississippi and University of Texas at Brownsville and the Research Excellence Award 2024 (Senior Category-Engineering) at NIT Warangal.
He is a reviewer for several prestigious journals and serves on various Academic and National committees, as well as on the peer review committees for DRDO (VRDE, R&DE, DMRL) and grant proposal reviews for SERB-IMPRINT-II and CSIR-FIRST schemes.
