May 24, 2024- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authoriry (TESDA) Isabela Provincial Office spearheaded the conduct of a functional analysis for the development of Competency Standards (CS) for Silage Production which was held at the Provincial Office in the City of Ilagan, Isabela.
The activity was actively participated by experts and stakeholders, including Industry Board (IB) chair Eugene Gabriel and representatives of the IB for agri-fishery sector. Other experts are from the Isabela State University (ISU) - Echague and Cabagan campuses, Department of Agriculture - Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI), Department of Agriculture-Isabela, Provincial Veterinary Office, professionals/practitioners actively working in the field of silage production, instructors from the Isabela School of Arts and Trades (ISAT) and Southern Isabela College of Arts and Trades (SICAT), and personnel from TESDA Isabela.
Highlights of the said activity include discussions on silage production and the challenges faced by practitioners, including climate variations and technological advancements. Participants also collaboratively drafted a set of competency standards covering technical skills, theoretical knowledge, and practical applications in silage production and identified critical competencies such as crop selection, fermentation processes, quality control, storage methods, and safety protocols
