The Start of the Tellico Village Roadrunners

In 1995 a group from the village was on a skiing trip in Cortina, Italy. After a good day

of skiing, at dinner the Scanlons and Cottons discussed the fact that we were not using our

R.V’s since we had been in the village. Pat Scanlon came up with the idea that we should

try a meeting with other people in the village who also had RV’s. A meeting was scheduled

by posting a notice at the Rec center. Approximately thirty people came and the club was

started that night. The first rally was held in Hiawassee, Ga. with Lou and Martha Close as

the first wagonmasters. Pat Scanlon volunteered to be the first president. The second president was Bill Pitts followed by Ivar Carlson and Lou Cotton.
