36. The High School Setting

Abstract: While typical teaching candidates have spent four years in high school prior to college, they rarely come to understand the administrative structure of their high schools and the responsibilities of various key personnel while attending as students. This chapter begins by focusing attention on key high school personnel and their responsibilities. It moves on to describe teachers and their responsibilities. It concludes with a review of some of the basic characteristics that typify many Millennials – the so-called generation Y.
