The Basic Pistol Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.
It includes classroom and range time learning to shoot both revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.
Students will learn:
NRA’s rules (National Rifle Association) for safe gun handling
Parts of pistols and their operation
Details on different types of ammunition and how it works
Pistol shooting fundamentals
Range rules for safety
Shooting from the bench rest position
Shooting from two handed standing positions
Basics of cleaning a pistol
Continued opportunities for firearm skill development.
All students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, and a Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet.
At the end of the session, each person will take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and be awarded a course completion certificate. Those who successfully pass a shooting exam will receive a “Basic Practical” chevron patch, indicating your new skill level as a Basic Shooter.

This 4 hour course is all about how to avoid becoming a victim of crime, and what to do to minimize your risk. It is idea for women (and men) to learn the basics of self-protection. There are lots of useful ideas, tools, equipment and devices to protect you from an assailant. Each course is taught by instructors with experience in crime defense and law enforcement.

You have heard that firearms are dangerous. In reality, it is the unsafe handling and misuse of firearms that is dangerous. You have a much greater chance of dying in a traffic accident or even choking from an object lodged in your throat than an accident from a negligent discharge of a firearm.
The key is to follow all safety rules for safe gun handling. But as a gun owner, you are faced with a moral if not legal duty to protect others from getting to your firearm. You need to learn the best way to protect your firearms from theft and responsibly store them. This is not something to be taken lightly.
Learn to store and make safe these important possessions properly. TDTSG will spend time needed with you in your home or business explaining the proper unloading, cleaning, and storage of your firearm or collection of firearms to assist you in your responsibility.
A personal assessment typically takes around two hours. Extensive collections (15 or more firearms) will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
In the worst situations imaginable, you may be called upon to defend your home and family from intrusion. Learn how to identify the safest locations within your own home and how to rapidly identify and deal with threats. This service is conducted on site by trained building investigators.
