OLD INFORMATION (Keep for now to give an idea of what to include this year)

2020 info:

Nominations report.

>>Governor Abbott & Attorney General Ken Paxton say our conventions are a go as covered by the Governor’s Executive Order under ‘Covered Services’. It is highly recommended that we follow the same protocols as churches who have been holding services.

Below is some Convention information we are asking for your full cooperation in respect to everyone present at the convention. This is an unprecedented convention and together we will make it work.

Ex: Committee meeting updates have been posted

    1. FORMS---- If you haven't already, remember to fill out those two forms listed under 'FORMS' in our webpage (Intent to Attend & Nominations Form) and don't forget to register with the RPT for the convention if you plan to attend the state convention: https://events.american-tradeshow.com/txgopfederal20

    2. COVID-19 PROTOCOLS---- For those who continue to inquire about COVID-19 protocols: Our venue is requesting:

    • Masks- We kindly request masks from your car to your seat. Once you are seated, you may remove your mask. After the convention, we again request masks from your seat to your car. The seating arrangement will help in that you will not have to wear the mask the entire time the convention is in session.

    • $25 Masks- If you forget your mask at home, the Party will have some on hand where you can purchase one onsite for a suggested donation of $25 at the entrance. We strongly urge delegates to make arrangements to bring their own.

    • Social Distancing- the CDC, state & federal officials state to be 6 feet apart from others. When in closer proximity, remember to wear your mask.

    • Sanitizer- bring a pocket-size hand sanitizer and we encourage washing your hands and sanitizing them frequently.

    • Greetings- We discourage hugging, shaking hands, fist bumps, or elbow bumps.

CORONAVIRUS WAIVER---- You have heard repeatedly from the state chairman how COVID-19 has turned our convention world upside down. Our SD conventions have had to reschedule twice and with good reason; your health and safety concerns from both Great Hills Baptist Church and us and our convention is being planned with that in mind. Regardless of how you feel about COVID-19 and protocols, we ask for your cooperation and respect for others in attendance, in submitting the waiver. You will be given a ‘questionnaire’ waiver as you wait in line for your credentials. When called up by the registration volunteer, you will submit the waiver to the volunteer prior to securing your credentials.

    1. CHILDREN---- we strongly recommend that you please consider not bringing children to this convention.

    2. SEATING---- Seating for the joint session in the auditorium has been roped off and designed for social distancing by Great Hills Baptist Church. Please find your precinct and remember that there needs to be two empty “seats” (marked by blue tape) on the pew between you and the next delegate unless you are from the same household. We have made accommodations for this. As long as you keep the two empty seats between you and other delegates, there is no need for you to wear your mask throughout the convention session. However, if you get up out of your seat, you must wear your mask. There are those who will wish to wear their masks at all times, please respect that.

    3. LUNCH-------please consider bringing a sack lunch. Some people like stepping away to nearby restaurants but please, take into account that restaurants are still following social distancing protocols and it may take longer for you to get your food. Water fountains at the church venue will be roped off and not available. Please make plans to bring several bottles of water for your use throughout the day. The Coffee Shop onsite has been closed and will not be operating.

    4. REGISTRATION---as you wait outside to come into the building, please follow the safety protocols listed above.

Once inside you will notice distancing markers the same as you see everywhere you go like grocery stores etc.

Wait until you are called up by the registration volunteer

Have your photo ID ready

The registration volunteer will collect the waiver, hand you your credentials, your lanyard, and a

program. Please step away immediately. You will not be signing for your credentials at this convention. The volunteer will mark you as having received your credentials.

    1. SECURITY- TCRP has hired Austin Police Department officers to assist us in our convention. Please say hello and greet them! We have no restrictions on personal firearms.

    2. ONCE INSIDE THE CONVENTION FLOOR----please find your precinct and remember that there need to be two empty “seats” on the pew between you and the next delegate unless you are from the same household. We have made accommodations for this; look for the visual. As long as you keep the two empty seats between you and other delegates, there is no need for you to wear your mask throughout the convention session. However, if you get up out of your seat, you must wear your mask. There are those who will wish to wear their masks at all times, please respect that.

    3. LIVE STREAMING----we hope to have a live stream for those who choose to stay home and or are unable to attend the convention. *There will be no mixing of those attending in person and those watching live. For you to participate, you must be in attendance ‘in person’ onsite.

    4. CONVENTION REPORTS TO THE RPT---June 27th is our convention date, and it is also the deadline for all statewide SD/County conventions to submit convention reports to the Republican Party of Texas. This means with our reconvening on June 27th, we must adjourn in time to submit those reports. You know, the report with your name on it going to state convention as a delegate and the resolutions we want included in our party platform, those reports.

    5. $10 SUGGESTED DONATION—We are asking each delegate to donate $10 (or more!) toward costs to run the Senate District Conventions. You may do that here: https://secure.anedot.com/travisgop/county

*Delegation participation is critical to our convention process. Every effort will be made to make sure of this.

Many SD conventions end by lunch, and the largest (SD 14) Convention in 2018, a normal, in length, convention ended by 4 p.m. Our hope is that in consideration of those who will have made the sacrifice of attending in spite of concerns and our need to submit reports to the RPT later that day, is that SD14 will adjourn on or before 3 p.m. But that can only happen with your assistance to keep things moving.

This will be the most amazing, most memorable convention Travis County will have ever had!

Please visit our sponsor tables. They have been waiting a long time for this.

See you on June 27th. Wear RED!
