Gift books are any items a campus library wishes to add to their collection that are not ordered through their materials budgets. Items that have been deleted and are to be reinstated in the library's collection are considered gift books. Reserve items that have been deleted from the collection and are to be added to the permanent collection are gift items. These items can include any type of material including DVDs, audiobooks, or any type of printed materials. If any item has an item record in Alma, it must be deleted before the gift process can add it back into the collection.
All gift items must be accompanied by a gift spreadsheet (see below for the form for your campus) and must include a title, circulation policy, and price. Not all items have ISBNs or authors. If there is more than one copy of the item, that must be specified under Item Count & Price. Technical Services does not determine what is added or deleted from the libraries' collections, nor does the department determine price of an item.
