Parent's Code of Conduct

As a parent, I promise to . . .

    • Enforce pool rules and reinforce Stingray codes of conduct

    • Provide transportation for swimmers to practice and meets

    • Volunteer to work at swim meets

    • Make sure swimmers arrive promptly to the meets and help children get to the bullpen for their races

    • Inform coaches that swimmers will or will not be swimming in meets at least 48 hours prior to the meet

    • Check my swimmer’s folder, and email regularly for team announcements

    • Provide a fun and safe environment where our children can grow

    • Discuss issues about disqualifications with the coaches, NOT the official on duty

    • Role model exemplary sportsman(woman)like conduct at all times

    • Provide supervision for your children during meets and practices (no drop-offs allowed for children under the age of 11)

    • Know the rules or ask someone who knows them to help you interpret meet regulations

SWIMMING RULES AND REGULATIONS

Competitive swimming in the Tri-County Aquatics League is governed by the current rules of USA Swimming, with amendments issued by TCAL. The Constitution and By-Laws of the Tri-County Aquatics League can be found at the TCAL website. For detailed USA Swimming rules, we recommend purchasing a USA rule book at the official USA Swimming website. This site has great tips for parents and swimmers, videos and other cool stuff.

EFFECTIVE TEAM COMMUNICATION

Most communication for team activities, meets, and other events will be sent by email, so it is very important that we have a current email address for you that you check regularly during the season. Phone numbers listed on emergency contact sheets are also extremely important and will be used throughout the season for meet day calls and contacts by coaches.

    • Concerns about coaching should be directed to the coaches, but NOT during a practice. During practices the coaches need to focus on the education and safety of our children. If you have a concern during practice please direct it to the Pool Deck Supervisor or the Parent President. There is always time after practice to speak directly to our coaches or you can leave a message for them in their folder. Team management concerns should be directed to the Parent President.

    • A Stingray Hanging Folder is provided for each swimmer and will be available at the pool everyday. This folder is where recent event cards and ribbons are placed, so be sure to check your folder when you arrive for practice. Coaches and the Parent President also have folders in the box for you to leave comments and/or concerns there.

    • Swim "Survey" response for EACH meet is important to indicate whether your swimmers will participate or not.
