TRY IT!

a little dip, a short lap, friends to lean on

Saturday, June 5th

HEATH CITY WATER PARK

INTRODUCTION:

The Stingrays TRY-ITS give children the opportunity to try out the team during a relaxed morning of warm-ups, simple drills, and fun competitions. Children can set personal goals for the season, meet the coaches, meet current Stingray team members, and learn more about swimming competitively.

TRY-IT GROUPS:

9:00-10:00AM: All swimmers ages 11 and up (to age 18) are welcome to join us for a regular practice and stroke assessments. This practice is for swimmers who know all competitive strokes. This practice is also highly encouraged for our advanced swimmers this year to prepare for our season opening meet.

*Registration begins at 8:30AM

10:30AM to 11:30AM: All swimmers ages 5 to 10 are welcome to join us for an hour of swimming, practice sessions, and stroke assessments.

*Registration begins at 10:00AM

12:00AM: Pool Opens. All participants must clear the pool by 11:45 and re-enter if they would like to stay for open swim with the team.

** PLEASE NOTE that you do NOT have to be a member of the HEATH POOL to attend Try-Its -- they waive that requirement for our Try-Its. However, children are required to have a signed release form with them for this event.

Come and have fun with the 'Rays!

PRE-REGISTRATION: To pre-register for Try-Its, please send an email to TCALStingrays@gmail.com with the names and ages of your children. It is helpful if you could also share information about their previous swimming experience. All swimmers will need to have a signed release form, available here, to participate.

WHAT IS A TRY-IT?

Swimmers will be teamed up by skill level and will have the opportunity to practice:

    • dry-land conditioning

    • drills

    • games

    • endurance training

  • Youth must be able to swim 25 yards of any stroke to be eligible to swim on the team. Young children may hang on to the rope and stop/start in order to finish their length of the pool, but they must show evidence of comfort in the water and the ability to listen to directions. Young children who are not able to swim with assistance, can still join the team as "mini-rays" and work this summer to learn the freestyle, kick, and breathe!

Coaches will assess skill levels to help us provide skill-appropriate placements for all swimmers. WEAR A ONE-PIECE SWIMSUIT and BRING GOGGLES.

TEAM REGISTRATION:

We will begin the season's registration at Try-Its. Please see our Join the Rays membership page for details and forms for registration. Click Here to go to the membership page. It is available under the link on the membership page to the stingray file cabinet -- download the registration packet and it is one of the documents in that set.
