I've been running some funded research projects on reinforcement learning (with a kind of bounded rationality) and analogy (category-theoretic). For details, see the JSPS database: https://nrid.nii.ac.jp/en/nrid/1000000514514/ (some summaries removed from this page)
Introduction
I am a professor at Tokyo Denki University and run the Internal Measurement lab, and a researcher at RIKEN AIP. I am also an associate member of PARIS (Probabilitè, Anticipation, Raisonnement, Infèrence et Subtrat), at CHArt (Cognitions humaine et artificielle) at University Paris 8, Paris X, and EPHE, where I stayed for a year from April 2016. My interests span from indefiniteness of cognition to cognitive psychology of reasoning to machine learning to complex systems. My recent research topics include reinforcement learning (experimentally, computationally, and theoretically), psychology of causal induction and (bi)conditionals, and robotics. Here is my very old CV (as of Jul 30, 2016); I am on ResearchGate, Google Scholar, slideshare, and dblp. You can contact me at tatsujit@mail.dendai.ac.jp and @ttsjtkhs (Twitter).
I supervised 5 PhD students and currently I have 6 PhD students (which will be 7 from September 2025). I have supervised 609 master’s and 140 graduate theses as of 2025/03/12.
