PhD research assistant positions are available within Del E. Webb School of Construction, School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment, Arizona State University to work in the general domain of Information Technology for Construction Engineering and Management. The student’s research advisor will be Dr. Pingbo Tang. The work will be interdisciplinary by nature, possibly spanning over civil and construction engineering, data analytics for construction project control, infrastructure management, computational intelligence, and spatiotemporal analysis and information management (GIS, Building Information Model). The major research projects are: 1) Risk Monitoring of Civil Infrastructures Using Correlated Change Patterns in Spatiotemporal Data; 2) Automatic Imagery Data Analysis for Proactive Computer-Based Workflow Management during Nuclear Power Plant Outages; 3) Automated Imagery Data Collection and Analysis for Efficient and Effective Underwater Inspection of Canals .
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Remote Sensing and Geospatial Technologies, or related fields, other general admission requirements ASU (TOEFL, GRE, GPA, etc.) please refer to https://students.asu.edu/graduate/admissions
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Interests and experiences related to three or more of the following academic areas: 1) Engineering economics and management(construction management, facility management, infrastructure management); 2) Computing (programming, automation, artificial intelligence); 3) Image processing; 4) Statistics and mathematical modeling (machine learning); 5) Automation in construction and robotics; 7) Computer-Aided Design and computer graphics; 8) Database and information management; 9) GIS and spatial analysis.
ASSISTANTSHIP PACKAGE: Competitive stipend, full tuition waiver, and healthcare. Room & board expenses will be covered for research travels(conferences, data collections).
