Curriculum Vitae

Szilárd completed his PhD in Computer Science in 2008 by submitting his thesis entitled "Bengali Script Recognition for Indian Postal Automation", a straight collaboration between his host institute Loria Research Center, Nancy, France and the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta (Kolkata), India. It was a pioneering work concerning the recognition of handwritten Bengali city names.

Currently he is with Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications, National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health and he is involved in the People Locator project concentrating more on face image queries and the subsequent pattern recognition and machine learning issues like feature learning, skin detection, skin-color clustering, etc. He is also conducting research in medical image modality detection, X-ray analysis, etc. 

Previously he was affiliated with TU Dortmund, Dortmund Germany, Furukawa Electric Institute of Technology, Budapest, Hungary and Loria Research Center, Nancy France. He has extensive experience both as research scientist and manager as well, working mostly at top-notch research institutes/companies all over the world (United States, France, India, Japan, Hungary, Germany). He has high communications skills as he is fluent in English, French, Romanian and Hungarian.

His programming languages of choice are C++, C, C#, Matlab and Java. He is quite familiar with different OSs based on MacOs, Unix, Linux, Windows, etc.

He is looking forward for challenges in research fields like machine learning, artificial intelligence, big data analytics, etc.
