Pack 389 is dedicated to providing a safe and responsible approach to scouting. We follow all the prescribed guidelines and procedures. With those in mind our scouting year looks different than it has in the past. Because cub scouts is a journey that parents embark on together with their scouts , it is uniquely positioned to flourish where requirements are worked on at home.
Pack award ceremonies have been put on hiatus in favor of scouts receiving their recognition virtually or at smaller den meetings where precautions are easier to manage and there is more opportunity to be outdoors.
Our usual larger pack group activities (Hartford Wolfpack Hockey game, Spring trip and end of year picnic) are not activities we can plan for at this time so have not been added to this year's calendar. If it becomes possible to hold these events in a safe and responsible way as the year progresses, we'll plan to re-introduce them in ways that make sense.
Pinewood derby is something we plan to have, but how and when are still up in the air. Normally a February event, our pack may postpone it until it can be held outdoors in nicer weather and possibly with smaller groups.
Flexibility and informed caution is how we are going continue to work through planning our program for the scouts. As much as possible we are working to provide alternate activities wherever possible. As conditions change our planning will adapt to always put the safety scouts first and to give them the best possible scouting experience.
