'Moonraker' Trophy

To encourage members to collect local material from Wiltshire and Bath. The trophy to be awarded for the best display of local material which may include stamps (mixed on and off cover), postal history, social history material (e.g. postcards, old documents, photographs and local money tokens) and thematic (provided it deals with a particular town/place. e.g. Swindon trams, the Midland & South Western Junction Railway, Wiltshire churches, Post Offices and pubs), OR a display of local photographs or military and war material such as Chiseldon Camp, etc”.

To attract interest and entries the Competition Secretary advises (i) that it will be a 9 Page ‘stand-alone’ competition; (ii) there will be no requirement for a ‘formal’ introductory sheet (viz. plan of layout plus details of references) rather provide an ‘informative’ introduction; and (iii) judging will be undertaken by popular vote amongst the members in attendance. Several members are known to collect (and occasionally display) Wiltshire material so, with such a broad remit, please have a go.

Noting that a large minority of members do not have an-e-mail address please pass the above information to any fellow member you know. A Newsletter will be issued in due course but not before late August.
