Farewell to The Ridge

Post date: Jul 5, 2015 5:26:49 PM

After 30 years the popular Ridge climbing wall at the Link Leisure Centre in Swindon was closed amid controversy on 30 June 2015. It is to be replaced by a trampoline 'park'.

But the last night at The Ridge was marked by a party atmosphere as SMC members and dozens of other local climbers descended on it for one last climb! Here are a selection of images from the night.

Lee on 'The Door'; one of The Ridges quirky features!

'How do you spell that?' Bernard adds to the graffiti!

Topped out on (the notorious) 'Ballerina 2' (6A). Thanks, Zoe!

To mark the occasion, climbers were encouraged to leave messages on the original Bendcrete section of the wall. Here are a few.

One of our more geographically dispersed members!

In Memoriam. Robin Pereira.

SMC would like to thank all The Ridge staff, past and present, for making it such a special place.
