SWERT is a partnership of state, federal, and regional agencies and non-profits in southwest Florida focused on the goal of providing a platform for coastal restoration practitioners to collaborate and share knowledge, ideas, and resources.
Mission: To develop partnerships which facilitate and implement restoration; develop a regional landscape-level habitat initiative; focus on restoration and enhancement of estuarine habitat including coastal marsh, mangroves, oyster reefs, and seagrass for estuaries extending from Palma Sola Bay (Manatee County) to the Ten Thousand Islands (Collier County) on the southwest coast of Florida.
SWERT is co-lead by Mindy Brown (DEP), Kevin Kalasz (USFWS), and Jamie Wolanin (FWC). Our Steering Committee is comprised of 10 members representing several agencies, organizations, and nonprofits in the region.
