About Reading Day Celebration:
The National Reading Day is celebrated to honor the father of ‘Library Movement in Kerala,’ the late P. N. Panicker, whose death anniversary falls on 19th June. The reading day is observed since 1996 and is celebrated to enhance the habit of reading among all but especially students. Reading helps to improve concentration, vocabulary as well as knowledge and understanding of the world.
He explained the importance of reading and emphasized that reading is the key to understanding, interpreting and preserving it. He explained various types of reading material and the difference between e-Edition and Web Edition as well as Google and Library. He described features of Google Books Search such as search option, view option, download, maps, and Google Scholars. He explained that Open Access is the practice of providing online access to scientific information that is free of charge and free of most copyright and licensing restrictions. He enlightened us about open access resources such as Directory of Open Access Journals, Directory of Open Access Books, Global Open Access Portal, Open Access Stories, Directory of Open Access Repository, etc.
He highlighted the fact that reading proficiency is the key to gathering knowledge and that it is an empowering habit.
National Level Workshop on Typeset Studio and Grammarly

Mr. Zeeshan explained in detail features of both the softwares/ tools for citing, formatting and building research work. He demonstrated how the software can be used to search journals/articles; converting MS-Word document into PDF; formatting of references in the research paper and making citations. He provided guidance for getting documents reviewed independently in Typeset Studio and explained how to select templates for articles; how to add equations, references, figures and tables using Typeset Studio. He also demonstrated the use of tools for checking plagiarism in both the softwares. Mr. Zeeshaan showed how we can set goals such as formatting, domain, tone, intent, etc.and how Grammarly can be used to correct language errors.
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Birth Anniversary

Sadhu Vaswani Institute of Management Studies for Girls has always followed the values of patriotism and believed in honoring the heroes of the nation. Walking on this path of values SVIMS celebrated the 125th Birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on 23rd January 2021.
Ms. Harshali Chandgadkar student of MBA part 2 gave a brief introduction of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Then some videos were shown wherein students showcased their talent through different performances. The 1st video was a song sung by a student on his life. Then Vaishnavi Gabe gave a small speech on India’s freedom struggle. The program was followed by a poem recited by MBA part 2 student Ms. Pooja Zawar.

National Level Workshop on Introduction to Zotero

Dr. Pujar stated that for research one needs to record different kinds of secondary sources of data that one refers to and suitably cite them.. Zotero helps in systematically recording these data sources.
Dr. Pujar introduced Zotero features and provided guidance on steps of downloading Zotero iZotero icons for recording books, Zotero list of item box and Zotero icon for collection of items. He demonstrated how to create new manual item and new item from current webpage; how to save link to current page; how to take snapshots of current page; how to create new standalone note; look out items such as DOI, ISBN and search items; how to create bibliography using APA or Chicago or MLA or other citation styles. He enlightened participants about Zotero MS-Word integration; Zotero online syncing; Back-up data; and Zotero-retracted items notifications.
National Level Workshop on Google Apps: Useful Tools for Librarians and Research scholars

Mr. Bachhav stated the features of Google Chrome in detail as well as Google apps such as Maps, Drive, Keep, Blogger, Hangouts, Jamboard, Earth, Arts and Culture. He explained how to organize Gmail by using different folders; how to create YouTube channel using Gmail account in detail. He demonstrated the Keep app, Google Workplace and search strategies in Google. He provided guidance on creating sites on Google and gave information on how to search and purchase domain for the sites. Mr. Bachhav also explained how one can use the attributes of Google Scholar in a specific way.
Library Quiz Activity

August 12th is celebrated as National Librarians’ Day in India, in honour of Professor of Library Science, Dr. S. R. Ranganathan (1892-1972), who had spearheaded library development in India. To celebrate this day, a Library Quiz was conducted. Through this activity students gained knowledge about library information resources, like dictionaries, encyclopedias, atlas, almanac, and other references sources.
A Session on Preparation for Competitive Exam

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Prakash Gaikwad motivated the students for the preparation of competitive exams. In the session he gave a brief overview of the syllabus of MPSC and UPSC.
He spoke about how dedication and regularity are important for success in competitive exams. He addressed the students about the tips and tricks which are quite important in preparing for competitive exams such as how to go through the syllabus thoroughly and invest more time in analyzing the weaknesses and pay more attention to such topics; how to prepare timetable with regular breaks; techniques for making flowcharts, tables, graphs, and other visual techniques. He emphasized on four keys for success in competitive examinations: Target, Dedication, Efforts and Continuity. He recommended referring to standard study material; taking proper rest and sleep; being positive and confident; and revising whatever has been studied.
International Conference on New Trends and Technologies in Digital Libraries

A Digital Library is a special library with a focused collection of digital objects that can include text, visual material, audio material, video material, stored as electronic media formats (as opposed to print, microform, or other media), along with means for organizing, storing, and retrieving the files and media contained in the library collection. Digital libraries can vary immensely in size and scope, and can be maintained by individuals, organizations, or affiliated with established physical library buildings or institutions, or with academic institutions.
Traditional concept of library is mostly based on print materials; a very important part is how the introduction of technology has affected the communication and interaction between librarians and library users. Digitalization has increased the means to make materials more readily available by adding advanced search features to access these documents. Digital mode gives better transmission speed and quality than analog transmission. In the modern world their roles and advantages, their ability to meet users and library economic needs is growing manifolds.
SVIMS has a rich repository of books, journals and e-resources. Being a management Institute and a Research center, it was but a natural choice to conduct an online international conference about the new trends and technologies that are redefining the digital libraries.
The conference received good feedback with its eminent national and international speakers sharing their learnings and experiences with the attendees.

On 15th October 2021, SVIMS Library conducted Book Review Activity on the occasion of Scientist and Former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam’s Birth Anniversary.
The students were provided with google form link for submission of book review. The students participated by sharing reviews of their favourite book. The activity was held to improve and inculcate the ability of students for book reading.

Dr. Meenal Oak explained the pattern of SET / NET Examination for Paper 1 and Paper 2 in detail. She explained the syllabus of SET / NET exam. She provided her insights on topics Research Aptitude, Communication, Mathematical Reasoning and Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Higher Education system, etc.
She suggested the strategies to improve cognitive abilities; plan for time management; skills to improve thinking ability for the success of SET/NET Exams.
Dr. Oak took an in-session test of the participants to help them understand the cognitive abilities. She conducted MCQs in the session and gave tricks to solve the questions quickly and correctly.
The participants asked their doubts regarding the exams which she patiently answered.
Celebrations of Vachan Prerna Diwas

Mr. Manish Parmar had arranged for a book exhibition. We had Research scholars, faculty, staff and students who visited the library and spent time in the world of knowledge and peace. The students also logged onto the online repository that SVIMS is proud of.
Mr. Manish then welcomed all the attendees with an introduction on the importance of the day. Dr. B H Nanwani, Director, shared her experience of meeting Dr. Kalam. She shared inspirational anecdotes and excerpts from his life and teachings. He was truly a Bharat Ratna.
World Book & Copyright Day Celebration

Every year, UNESCO invites the international community to celebrate World Book and Copyright Day on 23 April. At SVIMS this book day was celebrated in the library on 23/04/2023. On this day, recognised books were arranged in the reading room. These books were on the life of well-known personalities, scientists. The students of MBA & MCA read these books with genuine interest. These books helped students to give knowledge regarding generations, cross cultures, motivational life stories, new inventions, and discoveries.

In memory of Former President, A P J Abdul Kalam 's Birth Anniversary 'Reading Inspiration Day' was celebrated at SVIMS on 14th October 2023. As a tribute to the great Scientist, students participated in poetry recitation and book talk. An exhibition of the books was organized to mark the occasion.

The Program of Saraswati Pooja was celebrated on Monday 23/10/2023 between 10.30 to 11.00 in office and the students shared information about the importance of the day. Pooja was performed by Vidhi Sharma of MBA first year. All the students performed Sarswati Vandana. All the faculty members and office staff were present for the program.
