I am actively contributing to a group of Finnish female programmers. We organize workshops, excursions and networking events. All activities are for free and we build exclusively on open source tools.
During the fall 2018 I co-organized an introductory workshop series on data science for women. The workshop included lectures and exercises in important topics of machine learning: linear algebra, handling with data, supervised and unsupervised learning. The workshop was held in Finnish and the examples and exercises were solved using Python. The materials for the workshop can be found here (in Finnish).
The highlight of the workshop was a keynote lecture on Big Data and parallel computation held by Ella Peltonen of University of Oulu. The materials on keynote are available upon request.
I am co-founder of R-ladies Finland, a local chapter of the global network promoting women and people of minority genders in R coding. We organize talks, workshops and networking events. You can find us in Meetup and in Github.
March 2019, I gave a talk on Generalized Random Forests at Women in Data Science Conference in Helsinki. You can find the slides for my talk here and the related code in Github.
