SUTIRTHA ("SUTI") CHATTERJEE is a Full Professor of Information Systems (IS) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He received his PhD in MIS from Washington State University in 2008. Prior to pursuing his PhD, he received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Jadavpur University, India and worked in the IT industry for five years.
Suti’s research interests are in ethical and humanistic aspects of IS, technology-mediated work, IT and innovation, and IS disciplinary issues. His research has been published (or is forthcoming) in leading journals like Information Systems Research (ISR), MIS Quarterly (MISQ), Journal of Management Information Systems (JMIS), Decision Sciences Journal (DSJ), Information Systems Journal (ISJ), European Journal of Information Systems (EJIS), Journal of Strategic Information Systems (JSIS), Decision Support Systems (DSS), Information and Management (I&M), DATABASE, and Information Technology and People (ITP). He has presented his work at conferences like International Conference on Information Systems, Hawaiian International Conference of Systems Sciences (HICSS), Academy of Management Annual Meeting, European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS), and Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS).
Suti is an Associate Editor at ISR (“A+” journal on the LEE journal list) and a Senior Editor at ISJ (“A” journal on the LEE journal list). He previously served as a Senior Editor (2019-2025) at JAIS (“A+” journal on the LEE journal list), a Senior Editor (2025-2026) at JSIS (“A-” journal on the LEE journal list), and an Associate Editor (2020-2025) at DSJ (“A” journal on the LEE journal list).
He also served as an associate editor at ISJ from 2011-2019 and an Editorial Review Board Member at ISR from 2023-2025. He has also served as guest associate editors at both MISQ (“A+” journal on the LEE Journal List) and EJIS (“A” journal on the LEE Journal List). Suti has chaired/co-chaired mini-tracks on ethical issues in IS at AMCIS, HICSS, and ECIS. He has been an active participant as a mentor at recent JAIS and ISR paper development workshops.
Suti teaches (or has taught) MIS courses such as Business Analytics, IT and Innovation, Database Management, Programming, Knowledge Management and Organizational Learning, Systems Analysis and Design, IS Strategy, Data Communications, Management of IS, and IT Security.
Suti has received multiple awards/honors in his career, such as the best/outstanding reviewer awards at JAIS (2018), EJIS (2024, 2025), and JSIS (2024, co-winner), and an honorable mention as an ERB member for reviewing excellence at ISR (2023). His co-authored paper published in JAIS in 2024 received the best GTM (grounded theory methodology) publication award by the AIS Special Interest Group on GTM (SIG GTM). He is an Association for Information Systems (AIS) Distinguished Member-Cum Laude. Suti was selected as the best associate editor of the IS development and project management track at ICIS 2020, and has been inducted into the JAIS reviewer Hall of Fame in 2020. Other awards received by him include the Dean’s Excellence Awards for research both as a student (at Washington State University) and as a faculty member (at Prairie View A&M University). For the years 2021-2025, Suti has been ranked within the top 50 IS researchers worldwide, based on publications in the AIS Senior Scholars list of premier journals (using the straight count methodology, where only the first author gets credit).
