I was introduced to rowing - initially as an athlete, and then as a coach - while attending McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Combining a passion for the sport with an education in mechanical engineering, I have carried out detailed research into the hydrodynamic behaviour of the rowing oar blade in the water. My work on this topic has been published extensively, and has been presented at international conferences. Lately, I have been working with Rowing Canada in the development and testing of an improved oar blade design.
