Constitution and By-Laws
of
Sunflower Ramblers

Article I - Name
The name of this organization shall be the Sunflower Ramblers, originally chartered as the Buhler Ramblers, June 1964, Chapter of the National Campers & Hikers Association, Inc., doing business as Family Campers & RVers (FCRV).
Article II- Purpose
1. The purpose and objectives of the chapter shall be:
a. to recommend improvements in camping and hiking facilities wherever the need exists;
b. to bring these recommendations before the proper state and national agencies;
c. to press for action until the improvements are made.
2. To provide for a frequent interchange of camping and hiking ideas, and to include group campouts and weekend trips within the regular chapter program.
3. To co-operate with all other organizations which are working toward the conservation of our natural resources.
4. To provide, through identification with the FCRV Association, a basis for friendly welcome with other members.
5. To promote camping and traveling safety, help prevent forest fires, and support anti-litter bug campaigns.
6. To encourage the organization of unaffiliated members to achieve uniformity of effect and results.
Article III- Membership and dues
1. Membership in the Sunflower Ramblers Chapter of the FCRV is open to all qualified FCRV members and families who love and participate in camping and hiking. All applicants for membership shall be encouraged to attend at least two (2) meetings/campouts prior to becoming members. Membership shall be limited to twenty-five (25) families.
2. The annual dues for the Sunflower Ramblers chapter shall be as recommended by the board of directors and accepted by the members to meet current expenses. All chapter dues shall be payable at the beginning of the fiscal year.
3. Each member of the Sunflower Ramblers chapter shall pay all dues to retain membership.
Article IV - Meetings
1. The schedule of meetings and camp-outs shall be established by the board of directors to be presented at the January meeting.
2. The annual meeting shall be held In November of each year at which meeting officers and directors shall be elected. These officers shall preside at the January meeting.
3. A quorum of the chapter shall consist of 40% of the voting membership. Voting membership shall be limited to one (1) vote for head of family and one (1) vote for spouse.
Article V - Officers
1. The officers of the chapter shall be President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, two(2) directors, and one (1) executive committeeman. These officers shall be the board of directors. They shall be elected by the membership at the annual meeting and shall hold office for one (1) year or until their respective successors have been elected and installed.
2. If a vacancy occurs during the year in one or more office in this constitution, the board of directors may elect a successor or successors who shall complete the unexpired term.
3. Elected officers shall be limited to two(2) consecutive terms, with exception of the executive committeeman who may succeed himself for an unlimited number of terms.
4. Either the president or any two (2) members of the board of directors may, at any time, call a meeting of the board of directors.
5. A majority of the directors shall consist of a quorum to hold a meeting. Absentee directors may mail their votes to the President.
Article VI- Committees
1. The nominating committee shall consist of the board of directors who shall meet prior to the annual meeting to propose a slate of officers to be presented at the annual meeting. Other nominations of officers and directors may be presented from the floor.
2. Other committees may be appointed upon the approval of the board and shall act for the duration of the assigned task or until the end of the chapter year.
Article VII - Fiscal Year
The fiscal year of the chapter shall begin with January 1st and end December 31st.
Article VIII- Constitution
This constitution may be amended by a majority vote of the membership at a regular meeting of the chapter, provided a quorum is present, and provided the intention to amend the constitution shall have been communicated in writing to all members and submitted to the field director and state director for approval before action is taken.
Article IX - By Laws
1. By laws may be adopted or amended at any regular meeting.
2. Robert’s rules of order shall govern all meetings of the chapter.
Article X - Funds and Properties
Funds and properties to be disbursed to K.C.A. Scholarship Fund, in the event the chapter disbands.
