Artist's Statement:
As an artist, it’s the process of ‘creating’ that fascinates me; a process that involves an interaction of the inner world of my mind plus nature and the use of tools and materials of the outer world. It’s an act of work and faith through the interaction of mind and matter that breathes life into the act of ‘becoming’, a process where something new appears; that something new being a piece of art that never existed before.
Through the creative process, the image of the mind ‘becomes’ something real and tangible, a material object that can be touched and held, a tangible record or statement of what I have seen, experienced and felt that can be shared with, and enjoyed, by you the observer. It becomes a communicative link between artist, object and viewer.
The subject matter I use to communicate my philosophy is moulded by my intense love and innermost feelings about the spiritual beauty, the textural beauty, colours and even ugliness of nature where I attempt to capture its fleeting moment on paper or canvas using pencil or water-based media through the creation process. My love of nature married with my fascination about the creation process becomes a system of communication between myself the artist, my philosophy, the subject matter and you the observer.
