Currently, I have the following main research interests -

• Optics – including photonic circuits, photonic networks, photonic switching, optical communication and opto-electronic subsytems, integrated optical devices, MOEMS, fiber optics, optical sensing, optical phenomena, free-space optical communication and optical effects.

• Embedded Telecom Systems- including sensor networks, protocols and real-time operating systems

• Telecom Transmission and Switching – including green access networks, inter-working, signaling systems and protocols, network management and switching

  • Special Interests

    • Automotive Networks

    • Wildlife – conservation, tracking, human-animal conflict management

    • High Altitude Research

    • Deep Space Communication – inter-satellite communications, ground-to-satellite communications, pointing and tracking system design

    • Awarded 1999 INAE National Award for Most Innovative Project at the Bachelors’ Level [B.Tech thesis work by Shubhashish Datta and Vikrant Lal under my sole supervision].

    • Awarded 1999 INAE National Award for Most Innovative Project at the Masters’ Level [M.Tech thesis work by Satyabodh Kadni under my sole supervision].

    • Four students – Arpan Phull, Praval Jain, Nitin Upadhyay, Anurag Maheshwari – were awarded “Honorable Mention” citation and a cash prize in IEEE Computer Society International Design Competition CSIDC-2003, a global design competition among teams from 172 educational institutes world-wide [awarded at Washington DC, USA on 2 July 2003]

Apart from regular courses, I teach about 38 Refresher Courses + 2 Weekend Modules through FITT on a consultancy basis - please email me your requirements if you require any of these courses on Telecom, Embedded Systems, Optical Networks.
