Warbands
New Warbands to wet your teeth on. Feedback is always appreciated!
6/16/2024 - A new warband: Mist-Shrouded Raiders! This fimir / boglar warband created by a friend, Manoeternality. We feel confindent that your group will enjoy it!
7/28/2023 - This was originally shared on Mordheim discord, but realized I had yet to post it here: STYRO'S GUIDE TO CREATING CUSTOM WARBANDS! Advice on creating original warbands of your own!
6/2/2023 - SONS OF HASHUT! This is an old GW Troll Magazine (Spain) Chaos Dwarf warband, which I've attempted to translate and edit.
7/14/22 - Just realized that I had never uploaded the Gnoblar Horde warband to my site! Here's the latest version.
8/26 - Updated Slayer Cult- An original warband that rewards suicidal behavior. Ver 3.0 Tested. Changes from version 1 or 2:
Slayer heroes still get exploration for getting taken OOA (to represent their Karak Kadrin patrons), but I found the "exploration = retreating enemy hero" algorithm just a mess. Changed it to simply, "Standing Slayer heroes only get exploration if they win." Much cleaner.
Added "damned luck," which lets you reroll 1 death result per post-game (which makes the deaths a little less frequent).
Added some flavorful Rites, incentivizing you to swarm monsters with all of your slayers, not just Xp-gaining heroes.
Changed the phrasing on Whirling Blades. (Same function, just clearer, and including whip errata.)
6/27 - Updated the Splintered Fangs in response to feedback. (Moved Poison Brewer to skills; changed Snake Charmer to bonus move OR attack, clarified phrasing of Artful Poisoner).
Updated Scions of Flame to fix typos; merge Immolator with Burning Body mutation.
6/16/21 - We have run the first batch of testing on some of the warbands, and here are some of the updated warband lists:
Corvus Cabal - Major testing. Stream-lined items and abilities, fixed typos, lowered size to 15. - Semi-Tested
Iron Golems - Change Untiring to Juggernaut (to close loophole); Removed Chaos Armor skill. - Semi-tested
The Unmade - Added optional wizard hero. Removed equipment and Chaos Armor skill. - Semi-tested
Cypher Lords - The first version was tested, and found fair (but not exciting). This is Version 2, modeled closer to Shadow Warriors. - Untested.
All other Warcry warbands are still in the early stages of testing. However, the following overall changes are made to all of the others:
Starting Equipment: Correct all instances of "Light Armor 10gc" to 20gc (except for Iron Golems)
Starting Equipment: Correct all instances of "Heavy Armor 25gc" to 50gc (except for Iron Golems)
Remove Chaos Armor skill from all skill lists (too strong)
4/20/21 - Time to hear the Warcry! Introducing: the StyrofoamKing conversion of GW Game Warcry warbands into Mordheim.
(Obviously, some liberties were taken, but I tried to keep as balanced as possibly while still staying true to the spirit and strategic archetypes.) Untested.
Iron Golems - Brawny warsmiths. Pros: Strong Weapons, Cheap Armor, Ogre Henchman! Cons: Expensive, 4 Starting Heroes. Inspiration: Dwarf Treasure Hunters.
Splintered Fangs - Snake-themed gladiators. Pros: Free poison, Cold-blooded Lots of Parries and Striking First. Cons: Low Stats (for Chaos), Limited Missiles, Low LD henchmen. Inspiration: Pit Fighters, Lizardmen.
Scions of Flame - Flame-themed fantatics. Pros: High Strength henchmen, setting opponents on fire, can be built for combat OR range. Cons: Mostly human stats, limited armor. Inspiration: Witch Hunters.
The Unmade - Sadistic self-mutilating Cannibals. Pros: Powerful leader, fast recovery, causing fear. Cons: Limited range, restrictive item combos. Inspiration: Undead.
Cypher Lords - Cryptic lords of misdirection. Pros: Fast movement, bonus range for thrown weapons, powerful spellcaster. Cons: Weaker stats, No Long Range. Inspiration: Possessed, Skaven.
Corvus Cabal - Roof-top climbing Cutthroats. Pros: Fast movement, strong champions, versatile builds. Cons: Low Leadership, No Long-range missiles. v0.3 Inspiration: Skaven, Pirates. + Bonus Sartosa rules!
Slayer Cult- An original warband that rewards suicidal behavior. Ver 3.0 Tested.
Ogre Hunting Party Color- A gnoblar warband with an Ogre leader. Ver 1.2. Tested
Bretonnian Chapel Guard - A variant approach to the Knightly warband. Includes a Damsel, a revised approach to Squires, and berserker Battle Pilgrims. Version 0.0
Wood Elf Militia - My attempt at a balanced Wood Elf band, with a mix of combat and shooting. Untested.
