St. Williams History

Brief History of St. William of Vercelli

On Sunday, January 11, 1948 Fr. L. L. Meyer, Pastor of St. Joseph's church in Marshall, celebrate the first Mass in Carthage with 12 people in the dining room of a local restaurant. As the number of worshippers grew, Father Meyers began planning the construction of a building on Cottage Road. The parish family continued to grow and on June 29, 1980 a new church building in our present location was dedicated and named after St. William of Vercelli.

A Growing Parish...

Considering the growth of our parish and the long awaited plans for the construction of an Activity Center, the groundbreaking on September 19, 2009 was a welcome sign.
